Role and responsibilities

The corridor lead will need to consider the whole corridor at a program level, and with their expertise develop and implement a program-level strategy. This strategy will oversee individual project delivery (by separate Metrolinx teams) and mitigate any risks to the successful corridor delivery.  Key areas include schedule management, stakeholder management, risk management inc. key corridor level issues, interface management, scope/change management.  Success would be safe, on time and on budget delivery of the necessary projects, to enable the phased planned corridor train service improvements.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Leads a multi-disciplinary team of engineering manager, project manager/s and deputy project manager/s, including other specialists as the rise occurs.
  • Drives safety leadership from a figurehead position.
  • Manages client, consultants, contractors, and own project staff.
  • Identifies and analyses business risks.
  • Excellent in setting up effective management/assurance systems and procedures.
  • Able to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.
  • Looks to create a vision and set strategy.
  • Expert in persuading and influencing colleagues.
  • Creates high-performance teams and a common culture.
  • Positive & proactive approach to engaging with the various Project Delivery Teams (PDT’s)
  • Detailed knowledge of key performance indicator monitoring and engagement, directly linked to monthly measurement criteria established.
  • Detailed knowledge of resource management, interface, and constraints management
  • Will lead the development of plans to upskill the wider workforce, including the supply-chain, to ensure we leave a better trained workforce, linked to the utilisation of Humber College, George Brown College and Telfer Business School, and our GO Expansion academy of learning strategy.
  • Leads the team on the recommendation and initiates change to project delivery plans, identify areas of improvement to put forward to relevant area in business and operating processes.
  • Interacts with clients and other stakeholders to ensure that objectives are being met.
  • Leads external relationships important for project delivery (e.g., statutory authorities)
  • Liaises with the Metrolinx PDTs from the various sectors, Stations, Early Works, Joint Corridor Early Works, USRC, Extensions, to ensure all works are aligned with the common goal for the Rail Corridor and over-arching GO Expansion Program.
  • Act as lead for compliance with GO Expansion health, safety, quality and environment processes for projects, sponsor audit of Rail Corridor, and project documentation, activities, and processes.
  • Developing and delivering implementation plans; establishing commercially beneficial delivery models and leading on innovation & best practice

 

Qualifications

Education: Degree or equivalent with professional work experience in one or more specific disciplines in the Project and Construction Delivery Management disciplines

Years of experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in similar fields

Technical competencies:

  • Strong experience across all technical delivery requirements across program and project level set up and delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrates core strategic and delivery capability for setting up an organisation structure and integration with the customer / client vision and objectives.
  • Strategic and Detailed understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, site logistics, commercial & legal / contract issues
  • Detailed knowledge of contract & commercial procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, clear and concise; good presentation skills
  • Stays up to date with key industry/professional trends through networking and Continued Professional Development (CPD)
  • Updates colleagues & clients on industry trends
  • Understand different types of contracts and able to give advice to clients.
  • Knowledge of BIM and able to give advice to clients and articulate BIM strategy.
  • Understands data management. 
  • Proficient in office technology, software and applications.
