Systra have an exciting opportunity to join our high performing Geotechnical team as a Geotechnical Engineer with extensive flexibility to balance with working from home. As an award winning multi-disciplinary consultancy, Systra provides a range of geotechnical design services. Our involvement at all stages of projects allows us to advise on ground risk and to develop high quality, innovative geotechnical solutions.

 

Main Function of Job

This position within our civil engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

With a focus on the design of rail infrastructure they will also support other Product Lines in the UK and overseas, the post-holder will be part of a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.

The Geotechnical Engineer will be accountable for the design delivery of allocated civil engineering work packages, ensuring:

  • Delivery of all the specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the client’s specifications
  • Project requirements are fully met
  • Technically sound design solutions are produced, including all associated reporting and cost estimating, to programme and within budget
  • Identifying and delivering solutions
  • Compliance with all relevant technical standards
  • Advice and guidance are provided for staff, and professional development is actively pursued
  • Good relationships are maintained with all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company

 

Main Duties

Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the Geotechnical Engineer will be involved in a variety of tasks such as:

  • Undertake design analysis and calculations.
  • Provide sustainable and efficient design solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Assist in the preparations of design information and models for BIM submissions.
  • Production of reports and collation and integrated design solutions
  • Aid the production of preliminary and detailed design proposals that resolve client challenges
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Demonstrate logical and methodical problem solving to the design, planning and organisation of a project
  • Implementation of CDM and design requirements

 

An important part of the role will include working with the resources across the project – from local resources to others based at other design Technical Centre’s.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time.
