Main Function of Job

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer – Systems to join our growing Systems Integration team. This position will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

 

Main Duties

The Senior Engineer – Systems will typically be accountable for delivering high quality Requirements, integration, interface management and Verification & Validation services to our clients, including:

  • Deploy high standards of technical practice in Systems Engineering, including having a working knowledge of relevant standards and codes of practice including BS/EN 50126/8/9, ISO/IEC 15288, ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010, CSM-RA and Railway Interoperability Regulation.  
  • Working closely with Stakeholders to elicit requirements, ensuring the resulting requirements are clear and unambiguous.
  • Development and implementation of processes to capture, manage and validate requirements, inclusive of establishing measures to assess the quality of Requirements.

Establishing processes to ensure traceability from client needs to detailed engineering requirements through application of an appropriate requirements structure.

  • Identifying, developing, and leading on integration, interface and system assurance activities and tasks as necessitated by the complexity, novelty and level of risk on a project.
  • Establishing robust and appropriate verification and validation systems and processes for projects and programmes.
  • Working with project teams to ensure there is robust evidence of validation and verification of Requirements.
  • Promoting the use of Requirements, V&V and system level assurance principles throughout project teams and presenting to clients and stakeholders the value of robust Requirements and V&V processes.
  • Is aware of systems engineering and integration specialisms (System Safety, Security, HF, RAM) and can demonstrate understanding in one or more areas.
  • Able to tailor and scale the systems engineering service offering to clients in terms of the breadth, depth and competence needs necessary for successful delivery

 

  • Resource management of delivery within time and budget.
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company and fostering collaborative working practices with project teams and stakeholders

Taking immediate action to deal with any threat to safety

 

The post holder is responsible for

 

  • Their own safety and the safety of all employees and contractors;
  • Being a role model for safety through strict compliance with safety requirements
  • Ensuring the application of the safety policy in production
  • Ensuring that the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies are implemented in production
  • Ensuring the application of appropriate safety controls and technical assurance in production
  • Monitoring safety certification according to UK regulations,
  • Ensure appropriate technical resources are allocated to the project
  • Implementing training plans and general awareness of staff in safety
  • Performing hierarchical safety checks and also ensuring that each line manager does the same
  • Support the technical director to ensure overseas production centres are briefed on all relevant standards, guidelines and procedures

Special Circumstances

 

Essential

 

  • Good working knowledge of the DOORS™ Requirements Management system
  • Demonstrable experience in requirements engineering
  • Flexibility in working hours will be required to meet the demands of the role
  • Ability to travel to client sites and other SYSTRA offices will be required
  • Ability to work from home

Desirable

 

  • Able to undertake overseas assignments where required
