SYSTRA are immediately hiring a unique opportunity for a Technical Author to join our exceptional Digital Engineering team based from any of our UK offices with extensive flexibility to work from home. The Information Management (IM) Technical Author role will provide the IM Client Services Team with enhanced technical authoring capability as well as reducing workload pressure on digital engineering resources. The role will support Information Management business strategy, work winning, bidding and IM project execution across the UK and Ireland. The candidate will be part of the UK Engineering Team where they will promote best practice, innovation, and use their expertise to add value to SYSTRA initiatives. Work will be performed under the supervision of the IM Client Services Lead, with close alignment with project / bid leads as well as sales. This is a support role, reducing workload for technical resources focused on large complex programs with stringent IM requirements and with an emphasis on supporting the larger organizational need for innovation and process transformation.


Main Duties:

  • Act as the default focal point for technical authoring / documentation for the IM Client Services Team
  • Provide technical authoring capability for IM Products and Services.
  • Provide technical and non-technical authoring capability for Information Management Governance at both commercial and organisational levels.
  • Provide technical and non-technical authoring capability for Information Management on bids.
  • Establish and understand customer IM requirements and obtain technical information and detailed knowledge from Subject Matter Experts, source materials and operational excellence.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes for IM documentation.
  • Provide editorial function for all IM Client Services documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation produced meets organisational and client requirements / expectations.



Experience Required:


  • Technical authoring experience, preferably gained in a related environment i.e. any digital / engineering
  • Experience of writing proposals / bid documentation
  • Experience in developing standards and processes
  • Experience of providing process definition and standardisation
  • Experience of reviewing technical information for content, quality, and alignment to defined standards and requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Able to understand complex, technical concepts and translate them into clear, accessible content with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of delivering high quality deliverables to strict commercial deadlines
  • Self-motivated individual with a willingness to learn and interest in Digital within Engineering sectors.
  • Very strong ability to collaborate within a cross-functional product team
  • Self-discipline to balance/context switch in order to support multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
  • Educated to Degree or equivalent level in STEM discipline

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of writing operating procedures
  • Experience of developing graphics, visuals, or other media
  • Working knowledge of ISO19650 / BS1192 advantageous
  • Educated to Masters or equivalent level in STEM discipline
