We currently have an opportunity for an CAD Manager to join our growing engineering team. This position within our engineering team will suit a committed engineer who can demonstrate strong interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high performing team.

 

The opportunity to design High Speed Rail Infrastructure, Metros, Light Rail and Conventional Rail in the UK and overseas, the post-holder will be part of a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.

 

The key responsibility for an CAD Production Manager role is to support the Discipline Lead, Digital Engineering Manager and Production Team(s) in day to day development, establishment and implementation of 2D production from BIM models in our Birmingham Office on the HS2 Project. The CAD Manager is required to possess strong computer CAD/BIM and technical skills to support and oversee the production of 3D/2D dimensional models, technical and quality checking and control, coordination and constructability analysis.

 

Main Duties:

Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the CAD Production Manager will be involved in a variety of tasks such as:

 

  • Support the BIM Production Manager, GIS Specialists and Production Team(s) in day to day Design implementation activities
  • Provide progress and performance updates to Digital Engineering Manager on a fortnightly and monthly basis
  • Record, store and maintain all formal correspondences related to CAD activities
  • Support Production Leads with forecasting and deployment of BIM/CAD resources for their Task Teams
  • Support the deployment (hardware and software), troubleshooting and provide hands-on BIM/CAD software training for Project team members (Microstation and AECOsim etc)
  • Develop and maintain CAD Standards, libraries and catalogues
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance and control templates following the organization's quality procedures and the project's BIM & CAD methods and standards
  • Review, monitor and report on the development of CAD models and 2D deliverables and their relationships with BIM models and Clients assets requirements
  • Ensure CAD model(s) and 2D deliverables are delivered in accordance with the agreed TIDP, MIDP and CDE protocol. 
  • Oversee and manage incoming data and the production of all CAD models and 2D deliverables including extractions from BIM models for review and submission’s
  • Performing translation to and from other CAD systems, and data formats as required e.g. GIS
  • Support the BIM Coordinators and/or Digital Engineers in clash detection process and updates of CAD models
  • Prepare CAD models and 2D deliverables in compliance with the project safety standards and CDM regulations and supporting the identification and mitigation of hazards in designs.
  • Prepare CAD models, 2D deliverables models and reports for value engineering and constructability analysis 

 

Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Diploma and/or HNC in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
  • Significant experience in Design or Construction, Modelling and Drafting
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary Design workflows and understanding of BIM and CAD production process
  • Background either from a Consultant or Contractor on Infrastructure Transportation Project 
  • Experience with either International and/or British BIM and CAD Standards and Project implementation
  • Possess excellent English written and oral communication skill with an ability to form effective relationships with Project delivery team, Client and Contractor under time pressure
  • Excellent working knowledge of all PC based Windows environments and Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficient in a range of authoring, scripting, design review, coordination, simulations and collaboration applications e.g. Microstation, AECOsim, Open Roads, Power Rail, Navigator, ProjectWise, etc.
