We currently have an opportunity for an E&P/MEP Technician to join our engineering team in Birmingham working on some of the highest profile rail infrastructure projects in the UK. This position within our MEP engineering team is a great opportunity for a developing engineering technician with MEP exposure to grow within a thriving team. It will suit a committed and ambitious technician who can demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team.


The E&P Technician will work with a team of engineers assisting with producing the design delivery of allocated E&P/MEP Projects as instructed by the projects Lead MEP Engineer.

  • This role requires an understanding of CSM/CDM regulations and requirements. (internal training will be provided.)
  • Experience in the use of Amtech, Microstation and Relux Design Software.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • A self-motivated team player able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to build and maintain good relationships with engineers from other internal discipline teams to promote good inter-discipline working relationships and a “One Team” ethos.


Main Duties:

The E&P technician’s main duties will be assisting in the production of E&P/MEP designs as instructed by the projects Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and or Lead Engineer.


  • Ensuring tasks are completed to meet CRE/Lead Engineers requirements.
  • Ensuring tasks are completed to the timescales agreed with the CRE/Lead Engineer.


Experience required:


  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Engineering or working towards HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical design and construction principles and standards
  • Knowledge of safety standards
  • Experience of working on E&P projects
  • Experience of Amtech, AutoCAD and Microstation
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working/communicating across teams within the company to ensure delivery of projects
  • Self-motivated team player, able to work with minimum supervision
