SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.
We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Environmental team in our Birmingham office, by recruiting an experienced Business Support Assistant.

Main Function of Job
As part of the engineering division you will play a key role in contributing to the expansion of the Environmental Services business in the UK and Ireland by providing business support to the senior environmental services team. As the Environmental Services Business Support Assistant in this new sector for SYSTRA, your role will be to support the senior team to allow continued growth and sustain a division that is current 70 personnel strong and growing at a rate of >50% per annum.
You will actively support the Discipline Leads with coordination of recruitment, business development, project controls, onboarding of team members and suppliers including any paperwork required for subcontractors. The role will also include assisting in the production of plans, reports, inspections and KPIs, essential to the delivery of the projects and business development needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a proactive “can do” attitude and proven experience in supporting senior management teams through implementing efficient and quality team support practices.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Provide reliable and comprehensive administrative support to a busy Environmental Services team of over 70 and growing
- Provide appropriate input to the definition and development of our day to day operations, archiving, reporting, and recording systems for the Environmental Services Disciplines
- Assist the Discipline Leads and senior members of the discipline in mobilising members new recruits, both, permanent, secondment and subcontractors, and undertake coordination of paperwork associated with onboarding across the function (anticipated growth rate of 50% year on year).
- Interrogate project wide performance metrics as appropriate and assist in developing and producing Project statistics for monthly reporting + report back to the senior leadership team on a monthly basis articulately in a written and verbal manner through presentations and reports.
- Support development and implementation of the project platforms used for day to day management of the IMS as necessary
- Maintain records and databases, set up filing systems and manage daily operations
- Support Environmental Services single discipline Project Teams with Cost Management administration, data collection and maintenance of lists within the Cost Management remit.
- Accountable for the administration of timesheet data collection for project reporting
- Assist in the coordination of bid activity ensuring disciplines feed in their information in a timely manner to the bid managers/directors and support the Business Growth and Sales lead for the division
Requirements
- An understanding of business administration
- Excellent communication skills and collaboration skills are absolutely essential for the role (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work as a member of cross-cultural teams in different time zones
- Professional approach with the ability to motivate others
- Good broad knowledge across the Environmental Services Disciplines and the willingness and ability to learn quickly
- Self-motivated with excellent personal time management skills
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
