SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.


We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Geotechnical Engineer.


The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Main Duties


  • Undertake design analysis and calculations.
  • Provide sustainable and efficient design solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Assist in the preparations of design information and models for BIM submissions.
  • Production of reports and collation and integrated design solutions 
  • Aid the production of preliminary and detailed design proposals that resolve client challenges 
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Demonstrate logical and methodical problem solving to the design, planning and organisation of a project 
  • Implementation of CDM and design requirements 




  • Degree (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Institution Membership i.e. MICE, MIMMM, MISSMGE or equivalent
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and/or geo-environmental engineering
  • Knowledge of earthworks design, ground improvement, foundations, retaining structures and slope stability assessments
  • Understand the management, procurement, supervision and interpretation of ground investigations
  • Experience using Holebase, Slope/W, Wallap, Plaxis and/or Limit State software
  • Previous experience working on infrastructure projects
