SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

 

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Highways Engineer.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Main Function of Job

 

You will be accountable for the development of conceptual designs and the production of detailed designs for a highways, drainage, and civil engineering areas of a major rail infrastructure project in the UK.

 

Main Duties

Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the Planner will be involved in a variety of tasks such as:

 

  • Assisting in the development of conceptual design
  • Production of engineering design and details in accordance with project requirements
  • Preparation of calculations, written reports and checking of drawings
  • Preparation of feasibility studies, preliminary through to detailed design for road and drainage infrastructure;
  • Maintain Designers Risk Assessments in accordance with CDM regulations
  • Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections, preparing follow up reports

 

Experience

  • You will hold a Batchelor’s degree in civil engineering (or other relevant subject area)
  • Ideally you will be working towards Chartered Engineer status (CENG, MICE)
  • You must have proven post graduate experience working in a design environment on a range of civil engineering infrastructure projects that could include, highways, drainage, developments, rail or civil infrastructure
  • You will be familiar with the DMRB and drainage/flood risk legislation
  • Experience of Civil 3D, InRoads and OpenRoads
  • Experience of Microdrainage Design Software
  • You will have excellent communication skills
  • Awareness or knowledge of adoption processes (S.38 / S.104);
  • Compilation of flood risk assessments / inputs to transport assessments, travel plans and related documents
