SYSTRA is looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as TRU and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

 

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Interface Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Main Duties

 

Implements the agreed technical interface management processes to ensure duties are discharged. Technical interfaces are between the permanent works designer and other designers (e.g. temporary works designer, utilities designers, early/enabling works contractors, other MWCC) and other stakeholders (e.g. National Highways, Highways Authorities, Network Rail, Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authority)

 

  • Assists in the development of processes to enable the delivery of technical interface management and then works to ensure their successful implementation, supporting & facilitating the individual project design teams due to design deadlines & freezes.
  • Identifies all technical interfaces in association with the integrated design team.
  • Assesses each of the interfaces identified to determine which requires an Interface Control Document (formal agreement between parties that details responsibilities and how they will be discharged) or some less formal process for interface management.
  • Identifies and agrees relevant interface closure evidence and expected submission/receipt dates.
  • Organises and chairs meetings between the PW designer and other designers/stakeholders. Ensures meeting records are captured in real time during the meeting (either in person or delegates to the design team present at the meeting).
  • Produces monthly report which demonstrate the completeness of the interfaces register, number of interfaces – open/closed, number of ICDs, meetings arranged, meetings held, actions outstanding, action resolution date etc. Utilising PowerBI.
  • Liaises and coordinates with interface managers from other areas to ensure consistency of approach.
  • Provision of technical interface management closure evidence to the Integrated Design Team Interface Manager, Lead Designer, Senior Management team as necessary.
  • Identification and escalation of significant risks and issues as necessary to ensure successful design delivery.
  • Assist the project teams with other elements of design delivery management as necessary.

 

Experience

 

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field (i.e. Civil Engineering)
  • Good engineering background (chartership not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills to enable effective client and third-party stakeholder engagement
  • Drive to ensure that actions identified during technical interface management meetings that impact the PW design (many will be key issues or high risk) are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand which risks are key and focus to ensure resolution.
  • Willingness to take ownership and lead interface management within the project, ensuring that processes are discharged appropriately.
