SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.


We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering and Project Controls team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting a Project Controls Assistant/Junior Planner for our team.


The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a real desire to work within the Engineering industry and develop their career within the team.

Main Function of Job


We are looking for a Project Controls Assistant who will be fully dedicated to providing support to the Planning Manager, developing their skills in Planning and Project Controls. The role offers the potential for progression into the wider Project Controls team through our in-house training programme.


Main Duties

  • Provide reliable and comprehensive support to a busy project team.
  • Identifying and analysing project issues
  • Supporting and delivering the Period Programme update and information regarding changes and delays that have impacted the programme
  • Tender planning
  • Deliver the necessary reports to allow Senior Managers to direct the project
  • Able to cope with demands of a fast-changing environment
  • Ability to plan ahead, work well under pressure and meet deadlines reliably
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to be flexible to get the job done



  • Ideally have experience withing project controls within the Construction or Engineering industries
  • Ideally have experience or interest in working with international colleagues of different technical cultures or on overseas projects
  • Experience in using Primavera P6
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting experience
  • Ability to co-ordinate across infrastructure projects and global design teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
