Job Purpose

 

  • To support the project manager and sublot commercial lead in the effective management of time, cost and quality to plan through to project close out.
  • To provide functional commercial support to the project management team and ensure that timely and appropriate cost and contract administration is maintained.

Interfaces

 

Key accountability

 

  • Prepare all relevant commercial data for the monthly reporting cycle and to provide estimates to complete in support of project forecasts and budget reviews.
  • Preparation of monthly payment assessments (and associated notices) including assessments of Defined Cost
  • Auditing of Defined Cost and agreement with client
  • Preparation of all contractual notices, including:
    • Payment notices
    • Early Warnings
    • Compensation Events
    • Defects
    • General Communications
  • Assessment of compensation events, both time and cost
  • Highlighting any issues on the contract that require consideration under the main contract
  • Monthly forecasting of the estimated cost at completion for the project
  • Input into DJV’s monthly application for payment to client

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

 

  • Experience in high value civil engineering, building, M&E, rail or general construction and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Main contractor or alliance experience.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or professional qualification.
  • relevant experience in all aspects of post-contract commercial management on major infrastructure related projects
  • Significant experience in area of expertise with experience in the relevant sector in a senior position
  • Broad experience in the commercial management of projects and implementing effective cost control and change processes.
  • Specific knowledge and experience of post-contract commercial services including those related to reporting, payment, variations, claims management and final account settlement.
  • An understanding of risk, opportunity and contingency management processes.
  • Specific understanding of railway and construction industry contracts, ideally NEC3 standard forms.  
  • Experience of resolution of construction contract disputes
  • Understanding of multi-disciplinary co-ordination across major infrastructure projects and global design teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Has a good working knowledge of project planning and cost systems
  • Has skills in data management and excel

 

Educational requirements

 

  • BA Hons/BSc degree in Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying (or similar)
  • Professionally Chartered Membership to an accredited body (CICES/RICS/CiArb), or working towards
