We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced heritage building engineer to support delivery of the early works package on HS2 on a part-time, fixed-term contract basis. These projects involve the strengthening of listed masonry and timber structures to allow them to withstand the vibrations associated with nearby construction work and support the growth of expertise in this space. Support the development of junior engineers and apprentices involved in the delivery of this scope of work.

 

Main Duties

 

¢ Take responsibility for the technical leadership of the strengthening design works for listed buildings and other heritage assets.

¢ Prepare reports, specifications as required in the preparation of design work.

¢ Supervise the production of drawings.

¢ Manage delivery of projects – take responsibility for budget and resource deployment on projects.

¢ Where required prepare estimates for work items.

¢ Identify scope change items.

¢ Manage resources at a project level to ensure utilisation and productivity is maintained

Safety

 

Experience required:

 

¢ Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

¢ Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer

¢ Experience working on listed, heritage and historic buildings

¢ Experience of working within a Design and Build project with critical project timescales

¢ Ability to work in a collaborative multi-discipline design team

¢ Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and provide support and mentoring to others

¢ Ability to travel to client sites and other SYSTRA offices will be required
