SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

 

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Survey Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will ideally be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Main Function of Job

 

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Survey Project Manager (Geomatics) to join our growing engineering team. This position within our Site Services team will suit a committed and ambitious Survey Manager who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

 

The role is to project manage all survey requirements (Including, Topographical, Ground Investigation, Highways etc.) for SYSTRA on the highly prestigious HS2 project liaising between the design disciplines and the BBV (client) survey manager to ensure BBV are supplied with the varied survey requirements of the design team.

 

We also require the individual to take the lead in the growth of the Survey Department, undertaking business development within our existing markets/ clients while also creating opportunities with new clients and markets.

 

  • This role requires considerable professional experience and expertise in order to manage complex Rail and Non-Rail topographical surveys.
  • This role will act as Project Survey Manager for large complex engineering projects within the UK.
  • Good relationships are maintained with all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company

 

Main Duties

 

  • Act as Survey Project Manager for HS2 (and future large-scale projects)
  • Leading and directing work winning and pricing jobs.
  • Undertake business development for the survey team to enable the team to grow.
  • To assist the Site Services Team leader with growth of the group and any other services.
  • Achieve the targets set for delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards, within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operations of SYSTRA Ltd.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior staff within the Survey team.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • Degree in Surveying Discipline
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or Surveyor (or equivalent)
  • In-depth knowledge of surveying principles and standards
  • Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards
  • Detailed knowledge of safety standards
  • Awareness of contract conditions
  • Appreciation of safety implications of working practices and understanding of site responsibilities
  • Good commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales
