Main Function of Job
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist to join and lead our growing UK Geotechnical Group. This position will suit a committed and ambitious individual who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.
With a focus on the design of rail infrastructure in the UK and overseas, the post-holder will be part of a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of clients.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate significant depth of discipline knowledge with wide ranging delivery experience in combination with excellent project management and mentoring skills.

Main Duties

  • Leadership of our 50+ strong UK Geotechnical Group resources based across multiple offices
  • Experience of using global business resource models to support UK delivery
  • Client liaison, business development and work winning support
  • High level of personal responsibility, adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements
  • Working with minimal supervision within an established peer group
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence for successful outcomes
  • Coaching and mentoring of UK staff
  • Technically excellent, extensive design knowledge and experience
  • Establishing successful project teams, monitoring performance, and controlling budgets

 

The post holder is responsible for

  • Their own safety and the safety of all employees and contractors;
  • Be a role model for safety through strict compliance with safety requirements

 

Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering or related field
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Leading and managing project teams
  • Resource management
  • Developing staff through coaching and mentoring
  • Building and maintaining effective project teams
  • Delivery of nationally significant major infrastructure projects
  • Delivery of multiple single and multi-disciplinary projects of varying value and complexity

 

Skills

  • Excellent Geotechnical/Geology knowledge of infrastructure projects
  • Project Management
  • Commercial, financial and contract awareness
  • Experienced in use of industry standard design software tools, Windows, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills
