We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Utilities Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Birmingham. This position within our team will suit a committed and ambitious who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

 

With a focus on the design of High Speed rail infrastructure the will also support other Product Lines in the UK and overseas, the post-holder will be part of a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of practical work experience, typically within heavy infrastructure projects, such as rail or highways, and being responsible for utilities design for multiple utility types.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Overall utility design coordination with other disciplines (structures, highways, drainage, water diversions, landscape and Environmental)
  • Everyday Liaison with sub-lot utility managers
  • Attending coordination meetings (online and on site), where utilities are in concern
  • It is expected that there will be regular site visits and possible liaison with utility providers
  • To be able to write design reports, technical queries, RFIs

 

Skills

 

  • Overall understanding of utility diversions, as well as the approval process -
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background
  • experience as a utility coordinator, dealing with wet / dry utilities particularly related to linear projects - rail / highways (including: power, gas/fuel, telecom, watermains or waste water). It would be beneficial if design experience covers more than one utility type
  • Experience of using Bentley OpenRoads
  • Experience in Utility modelling
