SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as HS2 and TransPennine upgrade, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.


We are expanding our Environment and Water teams in the UK, we have a strong forward workload delivering high profile infrastructure projects. We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our UK Water Resources team in our Birmingham, Manchester or York offices, by recruiting an experienced Watercourse/Flood Risk/Rivers Engineer to join the growing team covering both large infrastructure projects as well as long standing frameworks.


The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Environmental and rivers/Coastal industry.

  • Undertake research and investigations to develop a clear understanding of the project requirements
  • Plan, specify and manage flood risk assessments and packages of work
  • Lead project teams to deliver work packages
  • Work with project teams to develop project specific solutions in relation to river engineering.
  • Work with the wider project team in the presentation of programme/project information to others
  • Assist the team leadership in the development of Client relationships and contribute to the training and development of other team members.




  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering or relevant Science subject
  • Experience of fluvial flood modelling software – ideally HEC-RAS
  • Experience of hydraulic analysis, including weirs and gates discharge capacity; hydraulic jump; scour protection etc.
  • Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessments, Surface Water Drainage, and/or SuDS Design
  • Experience of developing and delivering river design solutions
  • Experience of managing others and collaborating with other disciplines
  • GIS experience
  • Project management experience/awareness i.e. understanding of project programmes and critical path, change management, quality assurance
  • Strong communication and workload management skills
