Role and responsibilities

SYSTRA Canada is looking for an On-Site representative to be located for a period of up to three years at a major project site for the maintenance of railway rolling stock.

The role and responsibilities include the following:

  • Call upon the technical services of its team of professionals, when needed, via the Project Manager.
  • Maintains a significant presence at the project’s site.
  • Establish and maintain good communication of all information and ensure continued collaboration.
  • Be present, when needed, during progress meetings.
  • Represent the client on site and at the manufacturer’s locations during the project.
  • Verify the integrity and quality of the work.
  • Reject any work that does not comply with the requirements.
  • Verify the progress of the testing done by the manufacturer and approve, with the engineers support, all routine testing reports produced by the manufacturer and/or its subcontractors.
  • Verify the assembly specifications, manufacturing procedures and reports from the manufacturer.
  • Verify the application of industry best practices with regard to quality assurance and workplace health and safety at the manufacturer’s location and at the subcontractors’ installations.
  • Perform inspections of important production steps, in collaboration with the manufacturer, and approve inspection reports provided by the latter.
  • Perform predelivery inspection of the rolling stock and sign delivery authorization forms of the rolling stock on the client’s behalf.
  • Submit by email to the Project Manager and to the Project Director all relevant information regarding progress reports including all photos or illustrations to better understand the reports.
  • Document and share all critical comments regarding non-compliant items.
  • Ensure respect of the timeline pursuant to the procurement contract and monitor remedial actions as needed.
  • Perform all verifications, inspections, and analysis to ensure that all remedial actions are done in accordance with the requirements of the procurement contract.
  • Notify the Project Manager and the Project Director of any technical abnormality as soon as possible.
  • Report any abnormality relating to workplace health and safety standards.


Years of experience: A minimum experience of twelve (12) years in the field of monitoring, production and/or major maintenance of railway rolling stock including experience as an On-Site Representative during a major maintenance project involving railway passenger cars.

Personal & soft skills:  

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Available to travel in Quebec and Canada.
