We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with specific rail infrastructure industry expertise, to support the exciting growth of our rail engineering presence in Ireland. Key areas of experience could be across Civil, Structural or Track engineering design (for example) but a broad exposure would be beneficial, such as involvement in station or capacity enhancement projects. The role would be based from our office in Dublin but our hybrid working model means you will have significant flexibility to balance working from home with office-based collaboration.

The key focus of the role will be to grow and develop our feasibility and preliminary design capability and market in Ireland, working with colleagues across the UK & Ireland business and reporting to our Business Director for Rail Advisory.

Main Duties:

Prepare of feasibility, preliminary and detailed design for rail schemes using industry leading design software.

Prepare options selection, feasibility, and preliminary design reports.

Support in the preparation of contract documents, tendering process and construction phase of projects

Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as necessary

Collaborate with other designers and project managers to ensure design objectives are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget

Prepare technical documents and reports

Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation

Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards;

Keep up to date with advances in infrastructure design and implement new technologies and design practices as appropriate

Experience Required:

Hold a Level 8 degree in engineering. Master’s Degree (level 9) is preferred but not essential.

The successful candidate will be progressing towards a Chartered Engineer (CEng) MIEI or equivalent recognised professional qualification.

Preparation of feasibility, preliminary and detailed design for rail schemes using industry leading design software.

Preparation of options selection, feasibility, and preliminary design reports.

Experience supporting schemes through the Railway Order or Transport and Works Act Order processes

Maintaining adherence to project management guidelines throughout project delivery stages

Providing client support during the construction phase. Experience of site attendance is desirable.

Demonstrable knowledge/usage of Irish Rail/Network Rail design standards and best practice

Demonstratable experience of adhering to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 or similar
