We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our growing Transport Appraisal experts in the team in our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices with extensive opportunity for flexible/hybrid working.

The successful candidate will join a growing and vibrant Transport Planning team providing strong technical guidance whilst contributing to work-winning with both existing and new clients.


The Role

The role will focus on developing strategic highway, public transport and/or multi-modal plans. With the support of the Modelling and Appraisal, Public Transport and Transport Planning teams across the UK, you will play a key role in delivering/managing projects and supporting business development activities.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Transport appraisal projects, funding bids, development and/or auditing of business cases. Transport Policy and Strategy development.
  • Proposal management
  • Skill transfer to team members
  • Staff Mentoring
  • Client liaison and management
  • Identifying and effectively communicating client/project objectives
  • Preparation and delivery of reports and presentations



  • Graduate level in a relevant subject (ideally Transport Planning or Geography, Mathematics, Economics or Engineering)   
  • Experience of multi-modal transport strategy development, particularly active/sustainable travel. Good knowledge and experience of appraisal, funding and business cases across multiple transport modes.
  • Ability to undertake client-facing tasks with little supervision.
  • Experience/knowledge of transport economics and social/behavioural research experience (qualitative and quantitative) would be advantageous.
  • Good report writing skills   
  • Data Analysis and Problem-Solving skills
  • Experience of Microsoft software, in particular Excel
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of government transport policy and guidelines
