RAMS Engineer Lead

 

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

 

Operational:

  • Review the Contractor’s System’s Assurance deliverables and all updates for compliance against Systems Assurance Plan, Systems Safety Plan, Testing & Commissioning Plan and Operation & Maintenance Plan and shall report to the Engineer whether the deliverables are fit for purpose, or make recommendations for improvement
  • Manage the Safety Demonstration Process
  • Supervise, manage the progress and provide support to the contractors in building their safety cases, for infrastructure and rail systems, in compliance with their respective contracts
  • Review RAM and Safety documentation and analyses produced by the System Contractors and its subcontractors, in accordance with contracts’ requirements and project lifecycle. Ensure that the Contractual performance requirements are met by the Contractors.
  • Review the Contractor’s RAMS related plans to ensure that the contractors define and implement efficient and robust Safety and RAM Management processes
  • Review the software safety analysis and deliverables, and perform audits of the software development processes to ensure that the Contractors’ design and implementation is in accordance with EN 50128, allocated SIL levels and satisfy Contracts’ requirements
  • Review of the Contractors’ Hazard Logs and RAM Predictions Analysis, Spare parts calculations.
  • Monitor progress of the Contractor’s Hazard Log and implementation of the Control Measures in Requirement Management Tool to demonstrate the achievement of the safety requirements in the safety cases.
  • Participate in collaboration with the Operator and Rail Administration in preparing the Systems Availability Monitoring Plan
  • Participate in tests and review the system and subsystem test reports to ensure that the design requirements are correctly implemented
  • Review the Fire & Life Safety analyses and required deliverables
  • Responsible for reviewing the safety submissions, safety requirements and the implemented design solutions.
  • Responsible for reviewing the performance and availability deliverables, RAM requirements and their integration with Safety solutions.
  • Responsible for reviewing EMC safety requirements and their implementation
  • Responsible with reviewing and coordinating FRACAS and Punch List Items resolution.
  • Have an advisory and acceptance role on issues related to systems’ RAMS, on issues related to assessments of systems’ safety and shall provide guidance throughout the entire safety certification procedure.
  • Have an advisory and acceptance role on technical issues related to design review and compliance with the specifications.
  • Control the system assurance tasks during the contract lifecycle in order to ensure that the System is operable and fit for purpose, that the System operation and functional requirements are fully delivered and realized, that risks to the riding public, employees and property are minimized and that the reliability availability and maintainability targets are achieved.
  • Ensure that the Contractor provides all necessary assistance to the Independent Safety Assessor for the review of such safety submissions.
  • Carry out audits to ensure that the entire System and Civils Safety program is delivered and guarantees that the performance of the System is compatible with the overall high safety standards of a driverless railway system.
  • Support audits undertaken by the Client as and when required.
  • Ensuring that the System RAM requirements defined in the Contract documents are implemented by the Contractor and are measurable
  • Verify and review the continued adequacy, suitability and effectiveness of implemented systems and services
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Desired Profile:

 

 

Education :

 

BSc, BEng, BA or Equivalent

 

Experience :

 

  • Has total experience of more than 10 years
  • Has railway experience of at least 5 years

 

Professional Training:

 

  • Strong experience with the following standards: EN 50126, EN50128, EN50129, EN 50121 and NFPA 130
  • Very knowledgeable of the Rail System related EMC, Communication, Rolling Stock related standards
  • Proven experience in producing system and subsystem hazard and RAM analysis
  • Experience in producing EMC Technical Files
  • Rolling Stock, CBTC or Rail SCADA previous experience is preferred. General Rail Systems experience is preferred.
