Role and responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for the position of Track Specialist are summarized as follows, but not limited to:

  • Supervise the laying of rail:
    • Existing multi-user track on ballast with metal sleepers.
    • Approximately 134 km route from the mine to the port for Bauxite mining.
  • Ensure the upgrade of the track and maintain the track in good working order.
  • Assisting the client in maintaining the track, inspection, monitoring, avoiding service slumps, derailments, etc.
  • Ensure quality in the execution of the work.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering the work supervised.
  • Provide training/coaching of local resources.
  • Any other needs expressed by the client and falling within your area of expertise.



Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering

Years of experience: At least 5 to 10 years of relevant experience

Technical competencies:

  • Experience in supervising track laying works.
  • Fluency in French language (spoken, read and written)
  • Knowledge of track made up of type 136 rail, according to AREMA standards, with metal sleepers on the ballast.

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Ability to work in a team in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to organize and plan work
  • Methodical, rigorous and proactive

Reports to: Senior Railway Engineer

Remuneration: Based on the profile
