Main Function of Job

 

Apply skills and experience on range of significant railway projects, with multiple stakeholders, to provide T&C strategies/plans and deliver associated requirements. Contribute to winning new business, developing T&C capability in the UK and delivering T&C on HS2 as well as on NR CP frameworks.

 

Main Duties

 

  • Provide T&C advice and guidance for clients in ‘business as usual,’ technical refresh and new project environments.
  • Apply T&C knowledge, with creative and innovative thinking in a broad range of complex and non-routine contexts.
  • Provide T&C Strategies and Master Test Plans for Rail Systems, Stations, and Facilities, including Off-Site, DfMA, Synthetic Environments, Site Based, Dynamic and Operational.
  • Provide expert Migration Planning for new, novel, or complex Infrastuture, Rail Systems and Control Systems.
  • Define and implement a process to manage the client / project T&C management requirements capturing progress and status on appropriate dashboards.
  • Provide a logical system breakdown into commissioning lots / sub-systems to successfully execute the T&C Strategy and Plans.
  • Provide T&C contribution and associated outputs for assurance and ‘entry into service’ requirements.
  • Provide T&C quality, traceability and configuration data frameworks and management.
  • Manage the T&C programmes and critical path by implementing an effective T- structure to the testing cycle.
  • Produce and progressively manage any T&C risk assessments, determining the most cost-effective strategies and solutions in line with project organization and governance, functional and technical requirements, operational and safety constraints, schedule, and programme.
  • Help to build successful working relationships with team members, key customers and stakeholders that improves the value of the T&C services we deliver.
  • Promote and foster a T&C culture within the current Systems Engineering team.

 

Special Circumstances

Essential

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, systems engineering, equivalent field of study, or ability to demonstrate competency to fulfil the role requirements Experience of delivering Testing and commissioning consultancy in multi-disciplined industry environments.
  • Experience of systems Assurance processes, including risk assessments, risk management and the deployment of appropriate controls.
  • Experience of railway and complex projects environment
  • An excellent communicator, verbal (active listener) and written (able to write concisely).
  • Ability to articulate and pitch T&C advice both at a technical and non-technical level, directly to key customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks concurrently, successfully balancing business and client priorities.
  • Ability to provide high-quality work under pressure that delivers expected outcomes to tight deadlines and manage client stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to work both effectively individually and within a team in a multi-discipline environment and in a matrix organisation.
  • A keen interest in the latest technology with a focus on digital technologies
  • Flexibility over UK, and potentially overseas travel.

 

Desirable

  • Previous significant experiences on railway T&C at global rail system and facilities level
  • Knowledge of software and digital testing on systems as signalling, comms, SCADA
  • Knowledge and experience of System Integration Facilities
  • Knowledge and experience on railway operation during tests and transfer to O&M
  • Knowledge and experience on system migration projects
  • Ambition to work in a challenging and rewarding role that provides real benefit to clients.
  • An interest in maintaining and enhancing technical and consultancy skills.
  • Experience within programme and project environments
