We offer flexibility to work from home, focussing on demanding and innovative projects delivering to our strategic client base, and are open to basing successful candidates at any of our offices in London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds. The role will cover the delivery and management of Passenger Transport Team projects across the UK & Ireland and will include some travel, working closely with the existing team to provide a flexible and responsive approach to the demands of various clients/projects

Successful applicants will join a small team of experts delivering advice and technical support to clients regarding smart ticketing initiatives, fares and ticketing products, network planning, and operational optimisation. We anticipate that you will lead a small team, contributing to the effective allocation of team members to projects, mentoring less experienced colleagues, identifying new business opportunities, and helping to secure sufficient new business to keep a growing team fully utilised

Typical ticketing projects involve working directly with clients, often at their sites, assisting with development of smart ticketing schemes, delivery management, technical support and testing.  The bus operations team provides advice on how to optimise existing bus networks and their operations, drawing on market research and network simulations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing a small team of experts
  • Developing and growing client relationships
  • Driving the technical delivery of bus operations, network planning and ticketing/information projects
  • Direct liaison with clients to confirm their latest requirements and ensure we are fulfilling their needs
  • Delivering technical solutions for existing clients either alone or contributing as part of a team
  • Discussing future requirements with new and existing clients, securing new business for SYSTRA
  • Enhancing your personal skills through continuous personal development to ensure the team is at the forefront of emerging techniques and technologies
  • Supporting other sectors within the SYSTRA Consultancy Division to deliver public transport elements within wider projects such as transport planning studies, development plans or preparation of business cases
  • Project management
  • Proposal management
  • Skill transfer to team members
  • Client liaison and management
  • Support business development initiatives
  • Identifying and effectively communicating client/project objectives
  • Model quality assurance for investment/transaction decisions
  • Preparation and delivery of technical reports and presentations

Experience Required:

  • Ideally a degree in a relevant subject (Transport Planning, Maths, Science etc.) or Master in Transport Planning – or equivalent
  • Significant Bus operations experience, including network planning and other commercial skills
  • Experience delivering ticketing and/or information projects
  • Business and client growth/development
  • Team leadership and direct management experience
  • Direct work for clients including on site secondments
  • Good report and proposal writing skills
  • Established relationships with existing and potential clients in the public and private sector
  • Flexibility and ability to juggle competing project demands
