We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in London, by recruiting an experienced Cost Control Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

The role

 

  • Ensure all Cost related inputs are reliable and provided in a timely manner to support the Performance Measurement Update (PMU) process, liaising with the wider Finance team to ensure that effective and efficient control mechanisms are always maintained in the ledgers, ensuring all costs are correct and applied to the correct period and CBS coding, and reviewing accounts transactions including Subcontractor Liabilities, expenses, etc. to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support the regular update of the Cost section of the Project Controls Execution Plan, and with the implementation of Cost Control Procedure.
  • Responsible for the integration of cost with the schedule to produce reliable Earned value reports during Quarterly and Bottom up Forecasts, especially in the packages and areas under their responsibility.
  • Ensure continual improvement and innovation in terms of cost management techniques and reporting.
  • Inspire technical excellence within the discipline
  • Responsible for the implementation of the joint venture requirements for Cost Control, and cascade down into the supply chain.
  • Support in the production and delivery of the Performance Measurement Baseline and Performance Measurement Updates.
  • Understand and use of the tools provided (Pègase, Excel, Primavera P6 and Oracle R12) effectively using IT and systems.
  • Produce reliable Earned value, and cost control reports for the works at WBS level integrated in the Client’s control accounts, and at Package level for internal review with the joint venture Package leads.
  • Attend weekly and monthly progress meetings with supply chain, designers, planning, commercial & construction team, for the packages under his/her responsibility
  • Attend weekly/monthly site visits,
  • Leading monthly PMU meetings review with PK Managers from the joint venture and the client.
  • Liaise with Commercial team on the GMMP progress, actual cost and forecast
  • Ensure the use of CBS across the project; and that work, and cost is allocated within the correct cost centre
  • Provide general support to the Commercial team on tasks such as the monthly cost reports & accruals, and forecast when required.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with Commercial, Risk, Change, Planning, Design and Construction teams in order to maintain an accurate EAC of the works at all times.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports comparing planned work with actual work produced on site for key elements and commodities for the work packages under its responsibility
  • Carry out any other relevant duties to support Cost Control, and as required by line manager and the Project Control manager.

 

Experience

 

  • A degree, in a relevant subject such engineering, project management, accounting or similar equivalent is desirable,
  • Experience in using financial systems such Oracle R12 & Pègase
  • CSCS card at Management Level
  • Experience of cost control services within large complex environments within the construction and engineering industry
  • Good understanding of Project controls and alignment of programme, cost, budget, risk and change using WBS & CBS,
  • Understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications,
  • Good understanding of various methods of cost control, forecasting and performance reporting
  • Understanding of the civil construction industry, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements
