SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.


We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in our London office, initially working as part of our Old Oak Common High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Design Manager to manage production and delivery of design.


The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Main Duties


Overseeing Site Infrastructure Design Delivery, Design Coordination and approvals. The site infrastructure is a major aspect of a ten-year long project which interfaces with every aspect of the permanent works sequence, third party works and on-site constraints. It includes site roads, site utilities and drainage.


Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the Design Manager will be involved in a variety of tasks such as:


  • Act as the Design Delivery Manager overseeing the design work entrusted to the site infrastructure package contractor.
  • Coordination and management of all technical aspects of the site infrastructure package for the Project
  • Review and checking against contract requirements and standards to ensure compliance
  • Manage the coordination between design, methods, BIM and construction team and third-party design and construction teams
  • Manage the coordination of temporary works designs - manage the design preparation, submission, and approval process
  • Support the Engineering, BIM, and Technical Assurance internal BBVS teams to achieve Code 1 Acceptance of all Design Deliverables
  • Design Management Processes including RFI, TQ, etc.
  • Third party approvals and interfaces including road crossing approvals, TAA, Network Rail, SCS / third party approvals where necessary
  • Input into ITPs
  • Input into commercial and contractual aspects (when required) of design
  • Promote value engineering and innovation
  • Support the Technical Assurance and System Safety Teams 





  • Degree qualified within a relevant discipline (i.e. Civil or Structural Engineering)
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
  • Experience working on large infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of earthworks, excavations, roads, drainage, and utilities designs
  • Working with the wider project team in the presentation of programme information to stakeholders
  • Competent in MS Excel and Document Management Systems (such as BC, eB and SharePoint) Design Management, ability to manage large volume of design deliverables, experience in design contract management
  • Familiarity with Bentley CAD Systems, ProjectWise
  • Familiarity with BS5975:2019 (COP for Temporary Works)
