SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Trans-Pennine Upgrade and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

 

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in London, by recruiting an experienced Quality Engineer.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

The role

 

To support the project team, supply chain and others to manage quality assurance

 

Main Duties

 

The principle activities of the Quality Engineer will be:

 

  • Support development, documentation and ongoing maintenance of the Quality (& Construction Assurance) Plan (supported the QACH Manager and other team members) to meet relevant requirements (including ISO 9001) and associated procedures
  • Provide appropriate input and support for development and ongoing maintenance of other plans & procedures
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of a risk-based audit schedule
  • Support the Quality Manager and QACH Manager to ensure a specific, relevant, and comprehensive set of subcontract requirements relevant to quality and construction assurance have been incorporated within each tender package.
  • Ensure requirements have been met and authorisation can be given for works to commence by the required date.  This included development and agreement by relevant parties of suitably comprehensive Inspection & Test Plans and corresponding items (e.g. checklists).
  • Champion implementation and enforcement of the Quality Procedures (including Quality Control system)
  • Ensure relevant audits are undertaken and reports issued in a timely manner.
  • Undertake regular surveillances of the works and issue reports in a timely manner
  • Champion timely closure of relevant audit / surveillance findings
  • Provide input as appropriate for systems used to monitor and report performance
  • Proactively monitor and maintain an overview of quality control processes progressive assurance including documentation, identify areas of concern and take appropriate action
  • Compile reports for all relevant parties including the client and JV partners
  • Actively participate in formal review and improvement of the management system
  • Complete detailed investigations with respect to quality incidents to determine the facts and root cause(s) including issue of corresponding report and associate recommendations
  • Support the project team in dealing with external auditing governing bodies to maintain relevant certification
  • Support and actively contribute to success of the project’s programmes for Health, Safety, Environment
  • Understand what BIM is, the contextual requirement for BIM Level 2, its connection to the Government Construction Strategy and Industrial Strategy 2025 and relevance to the project.  Work collaboratively with the BIM team as applicable.

 

Experience

 

  • Ability to build strong relationships with the project team members, suppliers, client representatives, and other stakeholders
  • Substantial practical experience of quality assurance and control in a relevant business environment
  • Technical knowledge and experience relevant to the works area
  • Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts (including design / manufacturers’ information), make appropriate judgements, and act accordingly without undue delay
  • Knowledge of the sector and experience within a project-based organization
