Reporting to the Principal of Systems Engineering; The Senior RAMS Engineer (Senior Consultant) will provide Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety consulting services to SYSTRA Scott Lister UK clients whilst supporting the development of the RAMS business line. The position will provide the individual with exposure to a portfolio of large-scale, complex engineering rail and other transport projects. The role:

  • The Senior RAMS Engineer will work on projects involving rail infrastructure, rolling stock and signalling.
  • Undertake BS EN 50126 RAMS activities including; reliability/availability predictions & modelling, FMECAs, Fault Tree analysis, HAZOP and review BIM models as part of maintainability analyses.
  • Benchmark projects, utilising a full suite of consulting skills such as client management, technical analysis and influencing the design of complex systems across a portfolio of large-scale complex engineering rail and other transport projects.
  • Project management of staff and the direct management of subcontractors.
  • Apply pragmatic best practice engineering techniques to support commercial technical bids & tenders.
  • Provide continual subject matter expertise to ensure exceptional consulting services and client relationships are delivered and maintained.
  • Follow company safety, quality, environmental, commercial & project management procedures, relevant to the role’s responsibilities. 

Required experience & skills:

  • Minimum degree level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or an allied subject relevant to client assets.
  • Ideally Chartered Membership, or in pursuit of, with an associated Professional institution.
  • Experience in Rail (highly desirable); civil aviation or defence (desirable).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ RAMS experience and knowledge of the application of rail CSM.
  • A thorough understanding of the typical engineering management, project development and implementation cycles.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and manage client and stakeholder requirements / relationships.
  • Highly motivated with evident problem-solving capabilities including planning and delivering technically complex significant projects.
