We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in London, by recruiting an experienced Utilities Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

The role

 

Developing and maintaining the Utilities Deliverables Plan and Utilities Management Procedure. Ensure both the Utilities Deliverables Plan and Utilities Management Procedure are implemented with the Project and the Subcontractors works information.

 

Main Duties

 

 

The principle activities of the Utilities Manager will be:

 

  • Developing and maintaining the Utilities Deliverables Plan and Utilities Management Procedure.
  • Ensure both the Utilities Deliverables Plan and Utilities Management Procedure are implemented with the Project and the Subcontractors and during design, construction and handover.
  • Responsible for managing the lead designer consultant’s delivery of detailed design and technical support for the utilities design package
  • Verifying lead design consultant’s competence and undertake surveillance of the project design processes and procedures
  • Develop and implement a procedure to ensure the lead designer consultant’s federated utilities model is complete, fully coordinated, updated to reflect the latest site information and both suitable and available for use for design and for pre-start site surveys.
  • Responsible for managing the Utilities Survey Subcontractor to complete the pre-construction information and prove locations of utilities at key locations.
  • Reviewing and delivering major assurance deliverables to lead design manager, senior design manager and technical assurance manager for sign-off
  • Support the Project Controls team to develop and maintain a realistic combined utilities delivery programme.
  • Liaison with the Consents, Design Package Managers, Pre-Construction Leads and Construction Package Managers to ensure coordinated delivery.
  • Supporting the BBVS Health & Safety Team to develop a Subcontractor on boarding briefing for the permit to dig procedures.
  • Review and approval of Subcontractor’s authorised persons who have the authority to issue and brief Permits to Dig.
  • Developing and communication of minimum standards for utility protections measures for the project.
  • Responsible for managing the Utilities Management Service Provider to deliver the utilities works, including diversions, abandonment and protection.
  • Coordination with utilities companies on scope, design, construction staging, programme, mobilisation, supervision and handover records.

 

 

 

Experience

 

  • A degree in Bachelor of Engineering (or HND equivalent)
  • A Technical background in Utilities and surveying.
  • Experience in large infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of water, power, telecoms and gas utilities and the method for diversion and commissioning of diversion of these services
  • Working with the wider project team in the presentation of programme information to stakeholders
  • Technical authoring of associated processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of working within a project Common Data Environment for the production, management and federation of digital project data.
  • Competent on MS Excel and Document Management Systems (such as BC, eB and SharePoint)
