General Description
As the lead electromobility specialist for SYSTRA USA, the Electromobility Lead will perform and manage design, testing and integration activities for electric bus, railroad and/or rail transit while working alongside the electrical and systems engineering team, to plan and develop Electromobility and Zero-Emission Bus (ZEB) engineering / delivery projects and serve as SYSTRA USA electromobility referent.
 
The Electromobility Lead will lead and perform the production of design deliverables and studies for electric vehicles and facilities, traction power, facilities power and control power systems; including electrical system models for electric bus facilities and networks, heavy rail, light rail such as load flow, short-circuit and protective relaying. He will plan and develop electric transit engineering projects with a particular focus in ZEB vehicles and facilities and concerned with unique electromobility issues that are of major focus on transit organization programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, specifications, design and development of novel concepts and approaches.
 
He will also support innovation activities and liaise with other Electromobility referents within SYSTRA Group and with SYSTRA Innovation Unit and other Sectors for the feasibility, conception, and management of innovative electromobility solutions for rail and road transit. 
 
This position within 12 months is expected to be 50% to 80% billable.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Serve as the referent person on major Electromobility projects in the USA 
2. Manage assigned project work including scope, schedule, and budget and provide timely, quality milestone reporting.
3. Ensure engineers/designers are following and carrying out work under correct and relevant federal, state, local, and industry standards
4. Responsible for discipline work quality and methodology and coordination with the other sectors project interface for multi-disciplinary projects
5. Analyze and review the design and construction drawing requirements to ensure match with customers' specifications. 
6. Enforce QA/QC and Safety policies, identify possible quality and safety issues within the scope of the project in order to fulfill project-related contractual requirements.
7. Actively maintain proficiency and develop knowledge in his core areas of expertise and mentor the electrical engineering staff on Electromobility trends and developments.
8. Liaise with SYSTRA Group Electrical Engineering teams and Innovation Unit to share good practices, knowledge and lessons learnt on Electromobility projects such as new Electric Bus and Electric Bus Facilities design, procurement and delivery.
9. Write factory and field-test procedures and supervise factory and field testing. 
10. Support inspection and installation supervision of electrical equipment for substations, stations, electric vehicles, facilities.
11. Review and seal design drawings in his area of expertise, if licensed.
12. Tactically plan approaches and support Capture Manager, Proposal Manager and proposal team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, objectives and meet pricing target. Lead and participate in developing proposals, including technical design and cost estimates and participate in client presentations to secure new work.
 
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 
13. Accountable to West Coast Business Leader and/or Electrical Sector Leader or a Project manager, as assigned, for all phases of activities. 
14. Consults and coordinates with: 
a. All employees assigned to the sector, region and other disciplines as required.
b. Other managers and Sector Leaders to coordinate multi-discipline projects and exchange intelligence about clients and competitors.
c. Mentors junior-level engineers/designers on Electromobility.
d. Peer level employees of clients, teaming partners, competitors, SYSTRA, S.A. and its subsidiaries, vendors, brokers, and others as may be required to conduct the company’s business.
e. In conjunction with one or more of the following – Project Manager, work with:
i. Chief Strategic Officer, West Coast Business Leader and Sector Leaders to exchange intelligence about client capital improvement plans and their current improvement/maintenance needs.
ii. Marketing department to develop and review technical and cost proposals for his discipline.

Required Education, Licenses & Work Experience
1. BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
2. Professional Engineer License (PE)
3. Five to eight years of relevant experience: electrical engineering, design, installation and commissioning of electrical and control systems for transit vehicles and facilities (bus, metro, light rail, commuter rail).
4. Leadership and communications skills to supervise and mentor subordinates.
5. Knowledge of the USDOT, Federal Railroad Administration rules and AREMA standards.
6. Knowledge and direct user experience of electrical power modeling software such as ETAP, Railsim, SKM, 
7. Experience in software and hardware interfaces; critical safety analysis, including vital software that may be required; and the field inspection and the testing of traction power, vehicles and facilities electric systems, switching equipment, station/facilities lighting, security to ensure design specification compliance.
8. An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques is needed relating to all aspects of electrical systems.
9. Experience and ability to:
a. Use advanced techniques and proficiently extend the theories and precepts of railroad signaling to novel or unusual circumstances. 
b. Apply sound and diversified knowledge of signaling.  
10. Make independent judgments on engineering problems and methods
11. Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to all SYSTRA office locations, including project offices, if applicable
 
Desired Education, Licenses & Work Experience
1. PMP or CCM Certification (desirable / required for a field position)
2. CSEP, CISSP, CCNA, SSCP, LEED or other applicable certifications
3. Program/Project Management experience
4. Experience and ability to:
a. Optimally manage project scope, timely deliverables, and budget for the work assigned
b. Supervise a staff of related engineers and designers for the projects assigned, if required
5. Should be recognized as authority in its field (Electric Bus Facilities, Electric Vehicles, Transit Traction Power).
6. Leadership role or membership in a relevant professional organization (desirable).
