Function

SYSTRA Canada's Rolling Stock Division offers engineering services for the refurbishment of passenger cars, the design and integration of new equipment on all types of cars (generator cars, diner cars, etc.), as well as technical specifications and equipment acquisition services.

 

The Electrical Designer/Draftsman will participate in projects involving the electrical team.  He will work on the design, realization and correction of electrical schematics and technical drawings.  He will also participate in the selection of components for new systems and will be called upon to travel for short periods, mainly in Canada and the United States, to follow up on workshops and construction sites.

 

General Responsibilities (Goal and objectives):

Under the responsibility of the Electrical Team Lead, the Electrical Designer/Draftsman will act within the electrical team to perform the following tasks:

  • Produce electrical schematics for railway and other vehicles;
  • Prepare the list wiring and equipment;
  • Produce drawings of control and power harnesses;
  • Write work instructions and test procedures;
  • Produce test reports;
  • Produces 2D drawings of control panels and simple assemblies;
  • Follow up on-site or in the workshop for the manufacturing and installation of electrical components or systems.

 

Education and Experience (minimum and desired):

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in electrical, electromechanics, automation, or equivalent training in the electrical field.

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electrical schematic software: SEE Electrical Expert, AutoCAD / DraftSight;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Experience in the field of electrical distribution or automation is an asset;
  • Experience in the rail or transport sector is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the electrical code is an asset.

 

Skills and Abilities desired:

  • Available to travel for work;

  • Possess a valid driver's license, an asset.

 

Language skills:

  • Ability to communicate and write in French and English.
