Role and responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  • Manager of a team of engineers and technicians (track, signals, structures, hydrology, operations...)
  • Active member of the business opportunity development.

 

Specific Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the engineering and technical teams and their performance through the following activities:
    • Monitors of their skill level (ensuring a level in line with the industry ('state-of-the-art') and implementing/deploying the necessary measures to fill any gaps.
    • Monitors the overall quality of the production.
    • Management of team members' assignments according to the needs generated by the portfolio of secured and/or upcoming contracts.
  • Ensures the supervision of the necessary training in railway engineering.
  • Participates in and manages feasibility studies and design of railway infrastructure.
  • Establishes and manages the budget, schedule, and quality of project deliverables.
  • Ensures the proper coordination of activities assigned to project stakeholders.
  • Participates in the preparation of bids.
  • Actively contributes to business development.
  • Available to travel in Canada and abroad as part of their responsibilities.

 

Internal and External Relations:

Internal:

  • Participate in the writing of service bids.
  • Respond to technical production needs generated by contracts and defined by project managers.
  • Regular interaction with the engineering and technical teams.
  • Ongoing relationship with project stakeholders such as partners, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Interacts with various departments within the company (Finance, HR, IT, etc.)

 

External:

  • Acts as the company's technical representative on ongoing projects.
  • Develops business relationships with clients, suppliers, and consultants.

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s in civil engineering

Years of experience: At least 15 years of experience in a rail and/or rail consulting firm with heightened responsibilities.

Technical competencies:

  • Authority to make technical decisions in his/her area of expertise, in accordance with industry requirements and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, both oral and written;
  • Proven knowledge of rail project construction.
  • Experience in infrastructure and EPCM.

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
