Role and responsibilities

 

SYSTRA Canada's Transit Division is an active participant in Canadian and international projects in the field of urban transport (mainly subways, tramways, and electric buses).

 

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the Track Engineer supports the Transit Division through the preliminary or detailed design of railway infrastructure, including track alignment, rail yards and auxiliary tracks, etc. In this role, he will participate in coordination meetings with various stakeholders, produce implementation analyses, produce plans and specifications, assist in decision-making and, more generally, provide the teams in place with the benefit of his experience.

 

  • Acts as a technical expert on railway engineering issues, particularly those related to civil infrastructure;
  • Preparation of studies, design, plans and specifications related to rail equipment;
  • Coordinate and provide technical expertise for the preliminary or detailed design of railway infrastructure, including track alignment, railway yards and auxiliary tracks, earthworks and associated drainage works;
  • Perform the technical evaluation and design the geometry of the crossings, the phasing of the work and the preliminary calculation of quantities for optimization purposes;
  • Carry out on-site inspections, documentation and follow-up of required actions, both at the national and international level with different applicable codes and standards;
  • Establish, modify, implement and follow-up of work methods, procedures, standards, rules and design criteria;
  • Participate in the drafting of service offers in the field of railway infrastructure and works (methodology, cost estimates and work method);
  • Design and realization of various studies (technical studies, feasibility studies, etc.);
  • Develop business relationships with customers, suppliers and other consultants and rely on this network for ongoing projects and to increase opportunities for customer returns or new projects;
  • All other related tasks.

 

Qualifications

 

Education: Bachelor's or master’s degree in civil or railway engineering, or related field;

Years of experience: Minimum 10 years of professional experience in a similar role;

 

Technical competencies:

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible;
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable codes and standards;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Good knowledge of drawing and computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD/Civil CAD and Bentley;
  • Proficient in French (spoken, read, and written);
  • Proficient in English (spoken, read, and written), an asset;
