SYSTRA are currently hiring for a Senior Engineer to join their Track team in Manchester, Birmingham or Reading, with great opportunity for flexible working. The position requires leading the production of permanent way engineering designs, studies and reports for major railway infrastructure projects across the UK.

 

The post-holder may also act as Track CRE, as directed on specific projects and lead projects, to ensure project budgets and programmes are achieved. A strong technical knowledge is required, to provide guidance to other members of the Track Team and take an active role in maintaining and improving quality design processes. Ensuring safe design practices are adhered to and demonstrated within designs is essential.

 

 

Main Duties:

 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

 

  • HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g. Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, etc.)
  • Proficient at permanent way engineering alignment design and track components specification
  • Skilled user of Bentley MicroStation, Bentley RailTrack and ClearRoute2
  • Detailed knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with permanent way design
  • Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards including RSSB Group Standards, Network Rail GRIP Process and Company Standards
  • Good knowledge of the application of safety standards including CDM and CSM-RA
  • CRM: Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Develops networks inside and outside the business, works in partnership across departments and divisional boundaries
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literate, specifically Microsoft Office packages
  • A self-motivated team player with the ability to motivate others, to support the business
