We are currently seeking an Associate Director to join our Train planning team. Working on a hybrid basis balancing 60% office time with 40% home working time, this role could be undertaken with our Manchester, London or Leeds offices as a base.

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing SYSTRA’s Rail Operational Planning offer. The candidate will be expected to develop the train planning work bank, both collaboratively with colleagues as part of multi-disciplinary projects, but also independently for specialist train planning work.

In parallel to this the candidate will develop the train planning team to enhance and expand capabilities. As well as experience in using appropriate software, they will also have the ability to check, challenge and quality assure work produced by colleagues. The role will be client facing and successful candidates will be able to present the often complex and specialist concepts associated with train planning to a wide range of audiences.

The successful candidate will also work with our Professional Head of Rail Operations, to ensure that the team maintains the relevant level of competencies.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in train planning specifically timetabling. Experience of rolling stock and train crew planning would be desirable.
  • Good knowledge of rail operational planning best practice in Great Britain and/or Ireland.
  • Knowledge and experience of appropriate software including, but not limited to, Railsys and Attune
  • Skilled in proposal and bid writing
  • Experience in client facing roles
  • Strong communicator, both written and oral
