A unique opportunity to join our ever-growing Track Design team as Professional Head based from one of our key Engineering hubs, York, Manchester, Reading or Birmingham with extensive opportunity for flexible working. The person will play an important role in the technical leadership of the team, act as Track Professional Head and CRE on a range of significant rail projects, to ensure project budgets and programmes are achieved.

 

The position requires leading the production of permanent way engineering designs, studies and reports for railway infrastructure projects to achieve the required scope and quality. A strong technical knowledge is required, to provide guidance to other members of the Track Team and take an active role in maintaining and improving quality design processes and compliance with all required technical standards. Ensuring safe design practices are adhered to and demonstrated within designs is essential.

Knowledge and Skills:

 

Essential

 

  • HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g. Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, etc.)
  • Professional qualifications: Incorporated or Chartered engineer, membership of a professional body
  • Proficient at permanent way engineering alignment design and track components specification
  • Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards including RSSB Group Standards, Network Rail GRIP Process and Company Standards
  • Detailed knowledge of safety standards including CDM and CSM-RA
  • Experience of team management, mentoring and development
  • Experienced user of Bentley RailTrack and Microstation, plus ClearRoute 2
  • CRM: Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literate, specifically Microsoft Office packages
  • Good commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets and timescales
  • Transforms business performance by continuously seeking better ways of doing things
  • A self-motivated team player with the ability to motivate others, to support the business

  • Knowledge of Track-Ex and dozer files production
  • Track condition survey and site construction experience
  • Knowledge of track engineering contract conditions
