We have an opportunity for an experienced Transport Modeller to join our growing Modelling and Appraisal team in our Manchester City Centre office.


The successful candidate will join a growing and vibrant Transport Planning and Modelling team providing strong technical guidance whilst contributing to work-winning with both existing and new clients.


The Role

Developing and applying strategic (city or regional) highway, public transport and/or multi-modal models to assist our clients (mainly public sector) to develop transport options to economic, environmental, safety and other policy aims.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Technical delivery of transport modelling projects
  • Project management
  • Proposal management
  • Skill transfer to team members
  • Staff mentoring
  • Client liaison and management
  • Identifying and effectively communicating client/project objectives
  • Model quality assurance
  • Preparation and delivery of technical reports and presentation


Skills and Experience


  • Degree qualified within a highly numerate subject, alternatively a Masters Degree in Transport Planning with a significant component of Transport Modelling
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic transport modelling using software such as CUBE, SATURN, EMME and/or VISUM
  • Management of strategic transport modelling projects
  • Knowledge of government transport modelling guidelines, in particular WebTAG
  • Author and reviewer of transport modelling reports
  • Project management
  • Quality assurance
  • Client interaction
  • Contribution to proposals and work winning
  • Skilled user of spreadsheets in the context of strategic transport modelling.  Skills in the following would be advantageous:
    • Databases
    • Programming / coding
    • Statistical analysis packages
