Overall Responsibilities (purpose and objectives)

The Electrical Draftsman will work on the design, realization and correction of technical drawings. He will participate in the drawing of electrical schematics, writing of the cable list and the equipment list. He will also be asked to make drawings of electrical sub-assemblies such as distribution and control panels. Occasionally, the draftsman will be asked to travel to do workshop follow-ups.


Specific Responsibilities/Tasks

Under the responsibility of the Electrical Team Lead, the Electrical Draftsman will act within the Electrical Team to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Produce electrical schematics for rail vehicles;
  • Prepare the cable list, validate the gauge, routing and length estimation;
  • Produce the bill of material;
  • Produce drawings for control and power harnesses;
  • Produce drawings for control panels and simple assemblies;
  • Occasionally, do site follow-ups or workshop follow-ups for the fabrication and installation of electrical components or systems


Education (minimum and desired)

Professional Diploma in industrial drawing, electricity or equivalent.


Experience (minimum and desired)

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Professional knowledge of an electrical schematics software: See Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, etc.;
  • Professional knowledge of a 3D modelling software is an asset: Solidworks, Catia, Inventor, etc.;
  • Professional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Experience in electrical distribution or automation field is an asset;
  • Experience in the railway or transport field is an asset.


Personal and Other Qualifications

  • Communicates with ease;
  • Collaboration and team work abilities;
  • Interested in acquiring and applying new knowledge;
  • Holds a valid driver’s licence, an asset.


Language Requirements

Able to communicate and write in French and English.
