Electrical Engineer, Traction and Propulsion Power (Rolling Stock) - Pipeline

The Electrical Engineer in Traction and Propulsion Power will lead the development of specifications and drawings, technical reports, electrical schematics and performance specifications together with client and internal direction in accordance with our customers’ needs. Expertise covers all aspects from writing specifications to specific problem solving, failure analysis, production support, maintenance improvement, certification support, design changes and new system design assistance.



  • Development of specifications and supplier monitoring for rail power converters, high-power traction and propulsion systems, and auxiliary converters used in rail and mass-transit rolling stock.
  • Support, and reliability improvement for propulsion systems for various Rolling Stock types (Locomotives, Electrical Multiple Units (EMU), Light Rail Vehicles, Diesel Multiple Units (DMU)).
  • Assist in technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
  • Ensure compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Prepare material/equipment specifications; review supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and conduct test plans.
  • Develop operation and maintenance plans and procedures.
  • Conduct surveys and site investigations.
  • Support power studies (e.g. load flow, short circuit).



  • Bachelor's (B.S.) Electrical Engineering degree and minimum 10 years of experience.
  • Expertise with design requirements related to AC and DC traction and propulsion power systems in transportation and Rolling Stock.
  • Electrical / electronic power conversion expertise for static and motorized applications.
  • Diagnostic and design work in the field.
  • Design of power electronic converters for energy or motor drive applications.
  • Technical support on Rolling stock reliability improvement, maintenance procedure reviews and operations cost reduction.
  • Interface with systems and vehicle engineering disciplines for the sizing and design of the traction power systems.
