Electrical Engineering Internship (Winter 2019)

The intern will work on drawing wiring diagrams; prepare the wiring list, the list of equipment as well as installation procedures and tests. He/she will be asked to design electrical subassemblies such as distribution panels and control, transformers, etc. The intern might have to work for a few weeks in workshops in Gaspésie or elsewhere in Canada.


Reporting to the Electrical Team Lead, the electrical intern will be a part of the engineering team and will accomplish the following tasks:

  • Create electrical schematics for rail vehicles.
  • List the wiring elements, validate how they are calibrated, their routing, and estimate their length.
  • Design elementary sets.
  • Select items of hardware and other components as directed by the engineers.
  • If necessary, develop installation and test procedures.
  • On a per need basis, conduct on-site and workshop follow-ups regarding the manufacturing and installation of electrical components or systems.


Training and knowledge required:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in progress (2nd, 3rd or 4th internship) : this internship must be part of your studies and be recognized by your university.
  • Good knowledge of electrical drawing software: AutoCAD Electrical, See Electrical, ePLAN.
  • Ability to communicate in English and French.
  • Ability to produce documents in English and French.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel office software.
  • Knowledge of 3D Inventor or SolidWorks software is an asset.
  • Experience in the rail industry or the transport industry is an asset.
