Systra Canada's Rolling Stock Division offers engineering services for the refurbishment of passenger cars, the design and integration of new equipment on all types of cars (generator cars, diner cars, etc.), as well as technical specifications and equipment acquisition services.



The Electrical Technician will participate in projects involving the electrical team. He will work on the design, production and correction of electrical and technical drawings. He will also participate in the selection of components for new systems.  He will also be required to travel for short periods of time, mainly in Canada and the United States, to carry out follow-up in workshops and on site.


Specific Responsibilities/Tasks:

Under the responsibility of the Electrical Team Lead, the Electrical Technician will act within the engineering team to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Develop electrical schematics for railway vehicles and others;
  • Draw up the wiring list and equipment;
  • Make drawings of control and power harnesses;
  • Write work instructions and test procedures;
  • Produce test reports;
  • Make 2D drawings of control panels and simple assemblies;
  • Follow up on site or in shops for the manufacturing and installation of the electrical components or systems.


Education and Experience:

  • College Diploma (DEC) in electrical engineering, electromechanics, automation or equivalent;
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.



  • Proficient with electrical schematic software: SEE Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Experience working with power components (transformers, contactors, motors, etc.);
  • Experience in the field of electrical distribution or automation is an asset;
  • Experience in the rail or transport sector is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the electrical code is an asset.

  • Ability to communicate and write in French and English.
