Job Purpose

Support multi-functional technical development of rail vehicle models and major sub-systems on projects driven by market demands for new models, feature enhancements and reliability improvements.


Key Job Elements

  • Support multi-functional technical development of passenger car models and major sub-systems;
  • Support the definition and control of interfaces between the different subsystems;
  • Work in a broad multi-functional environment interfacing and negotiating with the commercial parts of the organization, project management, the multi-disciplinary engineering organization, operations, and the supplier community;
  • Clarify, negotiate and manage customer requirements;
  • Develop, release, and maintain technical specifications;
  • Manage the follow-up of technical requirements, from identification to approval of validation methods by the customer;
  • Plan testing and inspection;
  • Review design concepts;
  • Manage technical integration of the product from requirements definition to final verification;
  • Oversee and audit end product verification through customer acceptance testing;
  • Perform train simulation analyses.


Education / Training

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Good understanding of both electrical and mechanical engineering.


Qualifications and Experience

  • 10-15 years of experience relating to the design of passenger cars refurbishment/production or of products with similar systemic complexities;
  • Broad multi-disciplinary technical background in the development of systems with a strong interest in discovery of creative solutions;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Systems Integration Engineering principles including requirements definition and allocation, design of alternatives, and verification of a product to requirements;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of project management principles a plus;
  • Availability to travel occasionally to Canada and the United States for work.
