Reports to: Vice-President, Transit Division

 

Overall Responsibilities (purpose and objectives)
Develop and promote capability and program/project management in the field of asset management and maintenance of all railway and associated plant, equipment and railway systems to successfully execute rail consultant assignments for projects in railroad, subway/metro, and light rail.
 
Specific Responsibilities/Tasks
  • Lead technical delivery tasks in the field of asset management and maintenance of all railway infrastructure and associated plant, equipment and Railway Systems in accordance with relevant international rail industry standards, more specifically track and civil engineering, buildings, overhead line equipment (OLE), power stations, signalling, rolling stock and railroad systems.
  • Organize, lead, and provide the necessary consultant skills and resources to deliver SYSTRA’s services in North America.
  • Act as a technical leader for the development of responses to Requests for Credentials and Requests for Proposals.
  • Identify people to serve on teams in proposals and projects.
  • Undertake all activities in a safe environment and in accordance with SYSTRA’s operating procedures.
  • Complete projects with expected quality, on time and to budget.
  • Build strong client relationships.
 
Internal and External Relations
  • Have direct contact with both, existing and potential clients.
  • Ensure that an open dialogue is maintained between the various departments
  • Work collaboratively with employees of the SYSTRA group and partners.
 
Authority
  • Direct authority for the management of assigned projects.
  • Authority to make technical decisions within their field of competence in accordance with the expectations of their professional order. Should consult with their manager and/or the team with respect to issues outside of their competencies.
 
Education (minimum and desired)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
 
Experience (minimum and desired)
  • Extensive experience (10 years) in asset management or a related discipline with involvement in the design, construction and/or maintenance of railway projects, nationally and/or internationally.
  • Substantial experience in railway asset management and maintenance.
 
Personal and Other Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of asset management practices and developments.
  • Experience with major asset management software (e.g. Maximo).
  • Highly motivated with well-developed skills in action making and problem solving.
  • Outstanding skills in written/verbal communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and master time/priority management.
  • Strong commercial focus regarding business development and contract management.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to take initiative.
  • Availability to work in the United States.  
 
Desirable
  • Membership of a relevant professional association.
  • Good network of contacts in local transit authorities and railroads.
 
Language Requirements
Fully bilingual: English and French.
