Department/Team: Civil Infrastructure Division

Reports to: Team Leader of Engineering Designers

 

General responsibilities (goals and objectives):

Provide support to the civil engineering design group with integrated BIM tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D, Infraworks, Navisworks, ArcGIS for building, civil infrastructure, and construction design.

 

Specific responsibilities/tasks

  • Support the civil engineering department in the creation of technical drawings such as structural, earthworks, excavation, and drainage plans, as well as railway plans, sections, and profiles.
  • Carry out the layout of the plans of the railway route in plan and profile.
  • Finalize all aspects of a rail alignment (horizontal geometry and vertical profiles).
  • Analyze survey data and produce 3D surface models.
  • Update existing technical drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Produce geospatial data and thematic maps.
  • Provide design solutions for railway stations and their operational feasibility.
  • Make detailed structural plans under the direction of the technical designer.
  • Ensure compliance with CADD standards and procedures for the production of plans.

 

Studies (minimum and desired)

Diploma of Professional Studies (D.E.P.) in Surveying and Topography, Building Design, Diploma of Collegial Studies (D.E.C.) in Civil Engineering, Building Architecture, or a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

 

Experience (minimum and desired)

  • 3-5 years of experience in the AutoCAD CIVIL 3D design program.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the production of structural drawings (bridges and buildings).
  • 3-5 years experience in manipulating LIDAR data or equivalent survey information.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the production of profile plans, typical drawings, cross-sections, and structural drawings (bridges and buildings).

 

Personal and other qualifications

  • Attention to detail and high-quality work is well done.
  • Autonomous and able to manage priorities in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Sense of observation, curiosity, ingenuity to participate in the design of a project.
  • Initiative skills.
  • Ability to read and understand topographic map surveys.
  • Ability to interact positively with others in a multicultural environment.
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD CIVIL 3D software and experience in the railway engineering sector will be considered a valuable asset.
  • Experience in the railway engineering sector will be considered a valuable asset.
  • Knowledge of AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association) and its recommended practices will be considered a valuable asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural plans.
  • Experience in document management in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards related to document management will be considered an asset.
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools required.

 

Language requirements

Ability to communicate in French and English (spoken and written).
