Role and responsibilities

  • Develop electrical schematics for rail vehicles
  • Provide design instructions for schematics, layout, wire specifications, routing and load chart
  • Perform design analyses, calculations and produce technical reports
  • Select hardware and other components
  • Develop installation and test procedures
  • As required, provide on-site or workshop support for the manufacture and installation of electrical system components
  • Apply quality criteria to production, installation and validation processes
  • Define and monitor first article inspections
  • Participate in formal troubleshooting procedures

 

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with the Engineer title from the Order of Engineers of Québec

Years of experience: Minimum 10 years' experience as an electrical engineer with 5 years' experience in manufacturing or on the shop floor.

Technical competencies:

  • Experience with Solidworks ePDM and/or Windchill PDM (Asset)
  • Working knowledge of electrical diagramming softwares: SEE Electrical, Drafsight, ePLAN (Must)
  • Working knowledge of electrical and transportation standards: CSA, NFPA, IEEE, SAE, APTA, FMVSS and FRA (An asset)
  • Project management skills (An asset)
  • Experience in ISO quality processes (An asset)
  • Experience in PLC programming and industrial applications (An asset)
  • Proven expertise with rolling stock or locomotives (An asset)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in writing clear technical reports and proposals
  • Own a valid driver’s license

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Fluency in French and functional level of English to work closely with stakeholders in Ontario
  • Ability to work as part of a team on multidisciplinary projects
  • Ability to work independently, sometimes under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel across Canada on short term assignments (10 to 15% per year)
