Role and responsibilities

  • Prepare project site specific Health & Safety Plan as per contract requirements
  • Perform Health & Safety project site specific risk assessment as per SYSTRA project scope of work
  • Support and monitor compliance with SYSTRA Health & Safety management system, client Health & Safety project specific requirements, as well as applicable Health & Safety laws and regulations
  • Oversee the implementation of SYSTRA Project site specific Health & Safety Plan by SYSTRA and contractors’ personnel
  • Perform site Health & Safety training including site indoctrination of SYSTRA and contractors’ personnel
  • Perform and document Safety Observation Tours (SOT) and site inspections
  • Report in a timely manner any incident occurring on-site as per SYSTRA’s incident reporting and investigation protocol
  • Perform incident investigations, and ensure recommendations and remedial actions are appropriate and implemented as per established timelines
  • Assist in the development and implementation of site emergency response plan
  • Serve as a resource and provide insight on appropriate equipment, facilities, and work practices for protecting workers and the environment
  • Coordinate site Health & Safety committee and meetings
  • Prepare and submit monthly Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators
  • Maintain site Health & Safety logbook for incidents, hazardous situations, near-misses, safety observation tours and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 

Qualifications

Education: Post-secondary studies in Health and Safely or equivalent

 

Years of experience: Minimum of 3 years of field experience in the railway and/or construction industries

 

Technical competencies:

  • Solid experience in Health & Safety audit
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and COR
  • Good computer skills of various software (Excel, Word, Visio, Teams, SharePoint, …)
  • Fluency in French (spoken, read and written)
  • Fluency in English (spoken, read and written), as the successful candidate will be working with colleagues and clients in Ontario and internationally

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Be a good communicator and have good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work in a team in a multidisciplinary environment

Reports to: 3S Regional Director – North America

Remuneration: Depending on the profile
