General responsibilities

  • Within a team made up of Project Managers, engineers, technical experts and draftsmen in the Intercity and heavy rail division, you will have to design and carry out projects in the field of hydraulic installations and infrastructures within the framework railway and road projects carried out by the department, in Canada and abroad.
  • Your main mission is to pilot and produce studies (work design) for technical assistance, advice, expertise and verification in the fields of hydrology and hydraulics.
  • For this, you will have to discuss with the interlocutors of the other disciplines in interface with hydraulics: layout of track, geotechnics, work of art, environment.

Roles and responsibilities

  • More specifically, you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Intervene, within a project team, on the studies and engineering services of hydraulic installations, the realization of missions of complete project management in design (preliminary, of the 'FEED' type, technical files of calls tenders, detailed design) and works in the context of new or regeneration infrastructure projects, in Canada and internationally;
  • Contribute to the development of hydraulic studies: design and sizing studies for drainage, basins and hydraulic structures, measurements and financial estimates, drafting of technical notes, development of plans, summary of results, etc.;
  • Occasionally produce watercourse modeling studies in torrential or fluvial environments,
  • Manage and control the graphic production of the plans;
  • Participate in responses to calls for tenders and actions to develop calculation tools.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related field

Years of experience: Min 5 to 10 years of work experience in studies/design of hydrology or hydraulics or drainage

Technical competencies:

  • Design of hydraulic transparency works, bank protection, infrastructure drainage system, regulation/treatment works and alternative solutions, hydrology, river hydraulics, renovation of existing works;
  • Knowledge of hydraulic calculation and modeling software such as Auto CAD, HEC-Ras, HY8, PCSWMM, microdrainage, CIVIL 3D;
  • Experience on railway projects and works (An asset);
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (An asset)

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Good analytical, synthesis and writing skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate and work in a team and in a network, especially internationally;
  • Sense of organization, adaptability and autonomy;
  • Rigor and method;
  • Available to travel outside of Canada occasionally.
