Overall Responsibilities (goal and objectives)

Provide expert level track and civil engineering technical expertise to colleagues and clients in the design, construction and maintenance of railways and associated railway systems.



  • Be a resource person for railway engineering requests, particularly those related to civil infrastructure;
  • Coordinate and provide technical expertise for the preliminary or detailed design of railway infrastructure, including track alignment, railway yards and auxiliary tracks, associated earthworks and drainage;
  • Performing the technical evaluation and design of the geometry of railway crossings, phasing of work and calculation of quantities;
  • Supervise and be responsible for the production of plans and technical specifications;
  • Manage the consulting mandates of his discipline;
  • Carry out on-site inspections, their documentation and the follow-up of required actions, both nationally and internationally with the various applicable codes and standards;
  • Participate in the drafting of service offers in the field of railway infrastructure and works (methodology, cost estimates and work methods);
  • Carry out railway structural designs with detailed calculation notes and specifications;
  • Be available to carry out national and international mandates lasting several weeks or months;
  • Develop business relationships with clients in order to develop business opportunities.


Internal and external relations

Internal : Interact with all employees of the company and provide support on issues related to railway engineering and civil infrastructure.

External : Develop business relationships with customers, suppliers and other consultants, and use this network for ongoing projects and to increase opportunities to retain customers or acquire new projects.




Knowledge of various railway design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), as well as AREMA, UIC, EN, CN, CP and Transport Canada standards, recommendations, codes and regulations.


Experience (minimum and desired)

At least 10 years’ experience in track engineering, civil engineering or construction, design and ideally rail operations management positions



  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Member in good standing of the OIQ
  • Be familiar with working in a BIM environment


Education (mandatory)

Bachelor's degree in civil or railway engineering


Language Requirements

  • Excellent in English and French, both written and spoken.
  • A third language is an asset.
