Role and responsibilities

  • Responsible for material handling and the planning and design of yard, intermodal and freight logistics facilities across the entire project life cycle.
  • Provide innovative solutions to the operational, planning and design issues of the intermodal transportation facilities.
  • Adapt yard policies, operations, facilities and infrastructure to changing technology, cargo trends and regulations.
  • Integrate economic, engineering, environmental and community considerations into the yard process for evaluating the impact of development projects and growth scenarios.
  • Plan for increased traffic that could have a significant impact on operations to avoid critical railroad congestion and train delays.
  • Identify preferred routes for access to facilities, plan to minimize impact to train operations and improve service reliability.
  • Responsible for ensuring service, productivity, financial and safety goals are met.
  • Develop business relationships with clients and potential clients, and contribute to contract negotiations.

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent.

Years of experience: Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.

 

Technical competencies:

  • Strong attention to details.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Keen ability to troubleshoot and distinguish manufacturing and material discrepancies.
  • Ability to write reports and communicate complex data sets to different audiences.
  • Knowledgeable about modelling/simulation software in supply chain, warehousing & logistics.
  • Knowledgeable about standard material handling equipment and loading/unloading facilities.

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Effective interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Positive approach to working with others in continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding environment.
  • Fluency in French and functional level of English in order to be able to work closely in collaboration with stakeholders in Ontario.
