Role and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Vice President, Finance, the Paymaster will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of the payroll function, implementing a new payroll system that will meet the needs of employees. Their responsibilities are:

  • Bi-weekly processing of payroll for +/- 200 employees: Compile payroll data and perform data entry
  • Ensure payroll compliance: adherence to all laws and regulations
  • Manage problems related to payroll production and propose solutions for improvement
  • Prepare reports for management
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for tax authorities and other stakeholders
  • Manage vacation provisions
  • Manage employee files
  • Validate employee hours
  • Reconcile and record payroll data
  • Analyze and follow up on the group insurance plan, pension fund and other deductions
  • Costing per employee
  • Validation and control of customer invoicing
  • Participates in the month-end and year-end process

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent with a specialty in costing

Years of experience: 5 years experience in a similar position

 

Technical competencies:

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and the Office suite, with ERP
  • Experience in multi-province payroll and outside Canada

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • French and English, excellent spoken and written
  • Organized, versatile, autonomous, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
